With Saturn in retrograde through most of this month, and a mercury retrograde coming up in a few days, this is not the best time to  launch new projects - but it is a powerful time to make plans, to set new directions for ourselves… in other words, it’s a great time to make some New Year’s resolutions that just might stick.

I got into the habit of making new year’s resolutions many years ago when I saw how creating a focus for the period really helped to move me along on my spiritual path.  Taking time to plan makes it easier to get where you want to go…

Tips for making resolutions…

·  keep them simple, achievable.

·  keep them positive…  I resolve to eat healthy as opposed to resolving to lose (or gain) weight

·  give yourself a starting point, identify small steps that you can take to get there, set a plan of action…. Then take the first step.

Thanks especially to my Mother, holidays are meaningful, always special, not just because they often came with goodies and gifts, but because of the ritual that gave us a sense of family continuity and appreciation for the gift of celebration… Whether we were celebrating Christ’s birth, or His Resurrection, or a birthday or anniversary, or a graduation or promotion, my mother made sure we all took a moment to be grateful, and to honour the true meaning of the day.

It isn’t that Mom celebrated with a great deal of ritual, in fact, the traditions evolved and changed over the years as the family grew and changed… Mom’s rituals were unique to her, and to our family… traditions, that in one form or another had been passed down through the generations and would be passed on to the next.

Past Loves often reappear in present time, or as future loves. Those we have loved or have loved us in other lifetimes reappear because of the bonds of trust that were established a way back when.

We tend to travel through lifetimes in groups, and to continue to evolve with those souls we have been connected with in the past. Old loves will reappear in some lifetimes to challenges us, and in others, to watch out over us where they can. The key to making each connection positive so that you both keep growing and evolving is to accept it as it is in present time… the past can explain why we feel so strongly, but it is in the present that we grow. How often do you take out your garbage? Once a day, once a week? What if you never bothered to pick up the trash in your home or office, what if you let the garbage pile up until it was spilling out the front door?

Even though we may not be clean freaks, most of us take the time to pick up and put out the trash around us… yet we don’t so often think of doing the same with our inner garbage.  Once we see our negative beliefs and start moving out old pains, old resentments and anger, good decisions come much more easily, and we really start feeling a lot better physically, mentally and spiritually.

But clearing and cleansing isn’t something that you do once and you’re done… One shower in a lifetime won’t keep us smelling good for life…….. it is the same with clearing.  And working through our subconscious self, old beliefs and inner junk, is like peeling the layers off an onion… it takes repetitive clearings to get to the heart of the onion - to connect with our souls… Continue reading →
