Ask the Psychic
Trusting Your Instincts
Impulse vs Intuition

Thank you for replying so quick... I'm really glad that I found this website, it's really answered all the questions that I have about the sixth sense. I love the website, and I think that it is filled with the most comprehensive information about this, and the best psychic website I have seen.
I have always had trouble sorting out the information that deals with my psychic sense, and the informatoin that my imagination sends me. I try to communicate with spirit guides, but I just can't seem to trust what I receive. How do I know what information is psychic, and what information is not. How can I effectively communicate with spirit guide people and nature? Is there a more efficient way that I might now be aware of....
Thank you for your wonderful words to us. And, an excellent question with
some surprisingly simple answers. The thing about real intuition as opposed
to wishful thinking is it never triggers any feelings of urgency or fear,
just a gentle assurance of knowingness. It also endures and sustains as
well and doesn't change with changing moods and emotions. And, often when
it is real input we feel very relaxed about it all and don't feel pushed to
do anything one way or another. Just a calm, gentle and sustaining feeling.
Sometimes when our wishes or imagination are getting in the way, they will
produce a more urgent feeling and one that changes within days or sometimes
even hours. There is not the same sensation of peace inside with these
things. Also, I know that part of the trick here is to let go of the
chase - to just let it be. Because sometimes the more we chase the
knowing - the more we "try" to get spirit to communicate, the less we hear
what is said or transmitted to us because we are clogged up by chasing the
experience too much and questioning the input we do get. Also, as boring as
this sounds, it can in the beginning just be a bit of trial and error as
well. In other words just some experience itself can help us isolate and
identify intuition. Keep a journal and write everything you feel you've
intuited. If you are unsure if it is an intuition or not, write it down
anyway. Then, with time you can compare what actually happened and start to
notice which feelings you wrote down were in fact intuitive sense and which
were not. Doing this will help you determine which way it is. So for now,
treat them all as intuition, write things down and pay attention to what
actually happens. That will go a long way towards isolating this.
The dichotomy or irony of it all is the more we can release the need to have
it happen, the clearer the path to having it happen. Yes, it is ironic.
When you find peace and comfort and when it sustains no matter what, you
know it's intuitive guidance. When it feels too good to be true, urgent or
like it breeds doubt right away, it usually is wishful thinking or
imagination. But, imagination is a powerful thing - don't dismiss it as
unimportant because in life, everything that we do does first get birthed in
imagination. So sometimes I think imagination is active yes (in that we
guide it) but also very powerful in that it sends the energy of pure thought
out into the universe to come back and deliver us something of the
experience. Don't worry though - one simple day dream session is not enough
(I say this because all of us sometimes daydream weird stuff that we really
wouldn't want to have happen, hence this idea that one thing alone is not
enough to go out and create something for you.)
All you have to do is set the intention within yourself to hear your true
guidance and then let it go and go about your life happily so and writing
down what you think have been intuitive hits. Often a true intuition or
inner sense comes when we are not focused on a problem or issue, but when we
have just relaxed and stopped thinking about it for a time. It happens this
way because then we are receptive. The truth is our spirit world is in
constant communication with us, and we don't often hear it all. But trust is
key here - must simply trust that what is meant to be heard will be and all
you have to do is realize that your job is simply to listen.
Also in getting there, and in addition to writing things down, you might
want to try a little trick or two to help clarify things for yourself. When
something comes and you are unsure if it is intuition or wishful thinking,
just ask for a little sign - that's it - a simple little sign "is this
intuition or not". Then pay attention. If a song comes on the radio that
speaks to what you got a hit on (you can make it up inside) then this
affirms it. For me, in confusion I sometimes say if this is a real
intuition, give it to me again tomorrow. Because by tomorrow, our mood or
daydream may have changed, but f it comes through again, strong, gentle and
secure - giving a feeling of peace - then we can count on the fact that it
is a real intuition.
In this case, I just feel like you might be chasing this a bit too much and
because of that, it seems to run away from you. Yet, just relax and trust
the gentle, subtle and non threatening feeling that sustains and comes with
this and eventually, with some practice, it will become clear.
I hope this has helped.
