About Ouija Boards
We were playing the ouija board and we started speaking to a spirit named Ashton. She said that she wanted to be our guardian angel and we said OK. Ashton said she would show us what she looked like and a few minutes later we saw an old man in the corner. He was white/gray and see-through, except she said she was a girl. Ama
First off, the ouija board can be a dangerous medium to work with - the spirits are tricky and will pretend to be something other than what they are... and unless you are trained to be very discerning, you will be fooled... as you learned in this experience... that said, spirits have had many lifetimes and incarnations, it is possible that at one time, the old man was a little girl named Ashton... still, I would suggest you avoid this kind of work, and instead start learning more about the afterlife and mediumship... start by reading the works of Craig Hamilton Parker and James Von Praagh, Sylvia Browne's new book is also very good... I would like to comment on the stories about Ouija Boards by adding a story of my own that may help others.
A little over two and a half years ago I met a guy and began dating him. My then 11 year old daughter and I went to his house one day. He had a Ouija Board and my daughter was extremely interested in it! I sat with them one time and I said out loud that we only wanted positive energies to come through.
We thought nothing happened. Later, they both played with the Ouija Board more than a few times on their own, without me.
My boyfriend and I broke up in March of this year. Suddenly his behavior changed and it was of a very negative nature and very difficult to understand, until now. My daughter became very chronically ill for the next two years with her asthma.
Anyway, this past July I began opening up to my abilities. Approximately three weeks later I believe my daughter began opening up to abilities also without even knowing it. She began having horribly violent nightmares. The same woman appeared in two of her dreams. In the last dream, which was the most violent, the woman was singing rock-a-nye baby. Then my daughter saw a beautiful baby, then she saw the woman cut the baby's throat with a knife! Very graphic! She is 13 now and came running in my room in the middle of the night crying. She was so freaked out she climbed in bed with me and fell asleep eventually clinging to me.
The next day I had a reading done and learned that my daughter had a negative energy attached to her. This woman wanted my daughter's power because as it turns out my daughter has very strong empathic and healing powers that she has yet to develop. I did some research on this and was told by a couple of people what to do about this.
I was told to teach her how to protect herself by surrounding herself with white light or a bubble with mirrors. Well, I did not have a good feeling about this, so I let it go for the time being. Then someone else told me to buy an Amethyst and a Clear Quartz Crystal and place them on the right side of her bed to protect her in her dreams. This idea felt right, so I went to a store nearby. I bought a nice amethyst and a very beautiful clear quartz shaped like a heart, which really appealed to my daughter.
I explained that after I give them to her she should wash them in water to clear them of my energy and then place them next to her bed. I told her to handle them as often as she liked, but to never allow anyone else to touch them. She asked what to do if someone touched them and I told her she would have to clear them again with water and with the intention of clearing them.
Then my guides helped me as well. They told me that Lexi should learn how to protect herself, but first there was some things I must do for her. I was told to talk to the negative energy and in a calm voice. So I did. I told the energy to go back where it came from and that it was not welcome here. I also told it that I would be surrounding my daughter in protection and that it should go back to where ever it came from because it was not welcome here.
Then I told my daughter to sit down and think about when we used to blow bubbles when she was a little girl. One of her favorite things! I told her to imagine one of those bubbles falling on her head, but instead of the bubble busting it stayed in tact. Then the bubble surrounded her and turned into a harder material like plastic, but more flexible, like a bubble. After that I told her to imagine mirrors all along the outside of this bubble. I told her these mirrors would reflect any negative energies and any negative dreams back away from her. The bubble would protect her and only let the good things come in.
I told her after she does this that she should pray to her angels. She loves angels and collects angel statues. I told her to ask them to help protect her and only let the good and positive things and dreams come in. She really liked this idea.
After that the violent dreams stopped and she has not been bothered anymore with negativity.
I have also had some spirits play with me in the past by stealing something very important to me, but I'll save that one for another story. Hope this helps someone! Sincerely, Annette

Well it all started when my sister and I had made a ouija board. I wasn't sure it was going to work but I was still convinced. i tried it a few times and it worked quite well. I had the brought it to school the day before a huge wake-athon at our gym that night. All of my friends were talking about the board all day and how much fun it was going to be. a teacher then over heard our story and went and told the organizer of the wake-a-thon. Ouija boards were then highly hated by this teacher and he said that they would not be allowed at our event. I really wanted to bring it so that night i hid it in the sleeping bag and snuck it to the event. It stayed hidden all night. Once everyone was quite and in their tents 4 friends and I began to play. it was all fun for the first hour or so and then it got scary. We were just sitting in our tent when we saw 4 flashes. Our friend then told us that, that meant that the spirits were in the room. All 5 of us were freaked out. We then went back on the ouija board and talked to the spirit who we had talked to 3 times that night. We asked him if he was in the room and he told us yes. Then we asked if he wanted to hurt us and it had said yes again. We stuck the board under my pillow. My one friend began to shake continuously. she was shaking and crying. another of my friends went into a trance and began to talk to the spirit in her head. she was telling it to go away and not to hurt us. This went on for about 10 minutes. once my friend had stopped crying the girl that was in a trance passed out. We new the spirit was gone but we had to get out of our tent. As soon as we were out we were in instant trouble.We were being yelled at like crazy and we had to tell the truth. They then took my board away and i know I'm not getting it back! Nikki
Well, I'm very glad they took your board away and I really hope you've
learned a good lesson with this experience. If you read our site, we
actively discourage folks from using a ouija board, especially young people!
This is not a toy, and it is a dangerous way to be exploring the
paranormal... bad spirits, as you saw, can come in through the channel you
open because of the fear that is in you and they will do their best to
attach themselves to you and feed off you - they can make your life
miserable once they find a place within your energy fields where they can
hang on. It would be a good idea for all of you girls to get a clearing
done... the local spiritualist church will have people who can do this work
quite effectively for a small donation to their church - usually $5 as part
of their service. Or if you know of someone who does Reiki, get them to do
some clearing work on you - it will take more than one session, based on the
story you told me.
Instead of playing with the Ouija board, I urge you to read more about
spirit life, and being a medium... Craig Hamilton-Parker and James Von
Praagh will have some good material for you to learn from and you should be
able to find their books at the library. Mediumship work requires some
preparation and some real understanding of the dynamics so you can protect

I am 16 years old; Last year me and a friend started getting involved in things of a psychic and spiritual nature. It started when we first began using an Ouija board and found that it worked for us very well. Soon we had many spirit "friends" we would talk to on a regular basis through the board, including our Spirit Guides.
Then our communication became much more "advanced" and we started reaching spirits through our minds. Our psychic perceptions dramatically increased when we began getting involved with the spirit world. My friend and I were very pleased with the way things were going.
I don't think we ever got past the beginner stage, but we were a long way from where we started at We learned about our past lives and our spirit lives. We would engage in OBE's, our skill increased with scanning, sensing, and viewing.
Through OBE's we would go into the past and view things and people, and into the future. We would find dimension weaknesses in our homes, and other places, and "travel" to other universes and worlds.
I was getting more skilled and experienced with time and practice. I was, and still am, very interested in being as psychically involved and skilled as possible.
But just as things were continuing to progress, something strange happened. I'm not positive, but I think I had a poltergeist, or at least some kind of evil spirit. This spirit completely blocked my 6th Sense and made it nearly impossible for me to continue furthering along my psychic experience.
My spirit guide made it clear that I, myself, had to get rid of this demon. I was scared of it's power, so I waited a very long time to try getting rid of it. Ad internum, this demon continued prohibiting my psychic senses and sight. After much avoidance on my part, I did rid myself of the demon, and things were calm once again.
But when the demon's interference ceased, I found it extremely difficult to continue my psychic discovery. My senses were so blocked and unused that I had no idea how to regain my abilities. Also, when the demon was interfering, it also greatly affected my trust in all spirits. Previously I would just "know" who I was talking to,
when speaking with a spirit, and I would know if they were telling the truth or not. I used my intuition to tell me what was going on. Well, when the demon left I found it impossible to trust my own intuition.So currently, here I am, stuck. I feel more ready now to try getting all of my psychic skills back, but I'm not sure how or where to start. Things feel less "blocked", but still, I don't know where to begin in regaining back my skills. And at the same time, if I were to contact my spirit guides to help me on my quest, I wouldn't be able to trust my intuition to tell me who I'm talking to, and if they are trustworthy, etc. I feel very stuck. But I think I am finally ready to try gaining everything back. Ouija Boards Can be Dangerous

You were smart to recognize that your channels had been tainted. Although some individuals have worked successfully with the Ouija Board - Jane Roberts first made contact with Seth, an amazingly intelligent and helpful entity, through the Ouija Board, it, like Channeling, is fraught with dangers.
The problem is that when you open the channel, as you did by activating the Board, any energy with which you will resonate can come through.
It is a testimony to your good heart and spirit that you first attracted energies that helped you grow and develop... and also very natural that at some point you would be faced with your shadow side through the manifestation of the darker energies.
You have faced what could be called your "initiation", and from the sounds of it, you haven't quite made it to the other side... what I am referring to here is that every psychic or mystic will face a series of what could be called "trials" in our development... at each stage the challenge is to look within, to see our shadows, acknowledge the existence of the darker energies within us, and then clear them... once we face our inner ears, angers, resentments, whatever those lower vibrations are, we find our natural abilities rising to the surface again...
So, my advice to you in recovering your ability is four-fold:

take a class in meditation and practice daily, this will help you to tune in and tune up

practice your psychic ability - give yourself regular exercises and keep a journal of both your practice work and your experiences

get familiar with some other tools - the Ouija Board is basically a tool for connecting to the other side, but there are a lot of others that are a whole lot safer - the Tarot, for example is very helpful and most decks will give you a "clean" channel.

read, read read... there are hundreds of good books on developing your ability - and also on the nature of personal reality, how it is that we create our lives through our thoughts, feelings, love and actions... the more you know and understand about this world, the more you will find yourself opening up to it.

While reading your information I felt you are already well on your way to developing your psychic abilities..
First thing though is when dabbling with spirits you must always protect yourself...
I do not trust the Ouija board and will not even have one in my home.. It is my belief that you cannot trust what will come through.
To learn to trust your guides you need to take quiet time and put white candles around you.. Protect yourself with white light.. Then ask your spirits to come to you..
You should never call on spirits without the protection around you.. When you travel with spirits if you are not protected you leave yourself open to all. You indeed do not want to do that..

Can A Ouija Board Bring Us Bad Luck?
Danielle, This may sound crazy, but I will tell you my luck is usually not very good if something is going to happen it will happen to me, but for the last month since January 1st my luck has actually got much worse. My daughter went to visit with her father and stepmother around that time and when she came home she told us that one of her stepmother's friends (who they traveled several hours by car to visit) had a Ouija Board. It is possible that in playing with the Ouija Board they drew in some lower astral energies and elementals that may have attached themselves to your daughter or at least travelled in her energy... But you must understand that we create our own reality through our thoughts and feelings, so part of your problem is that you have begun to believe that bad things will happen to you, so they do. There's an excellent little book "the Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy that will help a lot in reprogramming some of the negative thinking and fear that is attracting your "bad luck".
There are a few other things you can do to help yourself here... check under the Jinx article How to UnHex and Unvex Yourself- there you'll find a Cleansing bath,) lots of folks have had good success in helping them to shift the energy in their lives) also read the various articles in that section, they will give you a sense of how our thinking affects our lives.
Every time you are in the shower or the bath, use the energy of clearing there to help you clear your aura - visualize the water seeping right through your skin as a beautiful gold light, see the light pushing out all the negativity and slowly filling up your body. Visualize a big gold sun over your head as your own highest energy, and see that sun radiating right through your body...
You might also look up one of the spiritualist churches in your area, or find someone who does Reiki or Reflexology or Therapeutic Touch and get some energy work done - this can be very helpful in moving things forward. Hope that helps, Lotsa LLLove, Danielle
