Healthy Advice From the Tarot

In the position of what's challenging you, I turned up the 4 disks. In classic divinatory meaning, the 4 of Disks points to the “power of the earth”. It is clearly a card bespeaking of excellent health, grounded ness, wholeness and solidity. It would be obvious to read this card simply as, what is challenging this woman now is excellent health! But that wouldn't be conveying any information that this woman doesn't already possess. First and foremost, as Mary Greer, a world renown expert on the Tarot would say, the Tarot reading should present the client with information she doesn't already know.
Alexandra Genetti, author and artist of the Tarot deck I was using, painted 4 apples cut in half to represent 4 Disks. Behind the 4 large apples is a background rich with beautiful apple blossoms in full bloom. It appropriately conveys a meaning of a lush harvest, delicious sweet aroma, and a glorious spring day.
I said to this client, “I'm looking at four apples. What do apples mean to you?”
She shrugged, and leaned in curiously for a closer look at the card.
I free associated aloud with apples, “Crisp, juicy, sweet… “, then suddenly it occurred to me. I asked this woman, “Do your health problems have anything to do with sugar?”
She looked at me astonished and a little abashed, and said, “Well yes. I have been eating a lot of sweets lately. I like baking for my friends and family and over the past year I've put on more than 50 pounds!”
I looked across at this woman who was plump but certainly not terrifically overweight. I thought she must have been underweight before gaining this amount of weight which undoubtedly meant this weight would have put an extraordinary burden on her body. She also looked quite tired which excessive amounts of sugar can certainly cause.
I said, “I think the cards are presenting this area as a serious health challenge for you and for your health to improve you must address this in your diet.” She agreed and said she would work hard to curb this addiction to sweets.
She thanked me for the reading and returned to her “High Tea” fare which unfortunately is replete with cakes and cookies! Her outcome card had been very favourable however, so I had a strong sense that these cakes may be her last for at least a while!
Although this woman was well aware that she had been ingesting more sugar than her system could manage, and it's effects were devastating on her health, it took a Tarot reading by a stranger for her to fully acknowledge the dire consequences of her choices. And this is not at all an uncommon phenomenon! We all know what's good and bad for our health, certainly a 50 pound weight gain in a year is obviously not a good thing unless we are severely underweight, but when it comes to applying what we know we can all be a little slow. It's amazing what little nudge from the psychic realm can do to adjust our motivation.

Take Care, Say the Cards!
As psychics and Tarot readers, we are not exactly medical intuitives in the way of Owen James and Matt. But because health is as important an issue as love and money are for most folks, we often receive insights and messages from the Tarot about our clients' health. And when such information comes up, I always urge my clients to consult with their doctors and medical advisors as soon as possible. I have had good reason to learn to trust this information.
Many years ago I was reading for my sister who was asking about her family. I hadn't seen her for some time and thought her family was all strong and healthy - I was very surprised, then, when it became very clear in the reading that there was the potential for a serious problem around her 2 year-old son. I didn't want to make her anxious, so I opened by asking her if young B. suffered from a lot of colds and fevers. Her eyes widened and she replied yes, that she seemed to be running to the doctor with him every second week... Next time, I said, please demand a urinalysis, there is something wrong with his "waterworks". And it looks like it could be serious. Hereditary (all the women in our family have suffered with kidney problems over the years). He will need surgery by the time he is four years old.
I got a call from her the next week. Young B. was being sent to Sick Kids Hospital for a series of tests. It seems I was right. He had the surgery before he was three, and it was serious. While he is an active young man now, his health is somewhat more fragile than his older brothers and all of the fevers left him almost deaf... She was very grateful that I - and the Tarot - pushed her to look deeper. They could have lost him.... Blessing on the Tarot...
A more recent situation was even more dramatic. I see a Japanese businessman in Toronto every month. Some years ago, I had stopped in for my monthly reading and had to wait while he unloaded his van. As I watched, I became very concerned. He looked extremely pale, and clearly in pain. When he stopped working, he couldn't catch his breath for a few minutes. I wanted to call an ambulance, but he absolutely refused, said there was nothing wrong, just a sore back, pulled muscles and all he needed was a cup of tea. One of his staff brought it for him and we sat down for the reading... but I couldn't get a darned thing except that he needed to see a doctor immediately that his heart was bad. I sat for an hour and had to turn back every question he asked about business... "Sorry, Mr. I., the tarot says that none of these questions are important, that the only thing you must do right now is take care of your health." and again and again, "Sorry, Mr I, I can't get an answer there, all it says is that the business is fine right now, but you must go see a doctor." I left after the hour, very worried, called him several times over the next weeks, but he insisted it was only his back. The next month when I went to do his reading, I had the same experience with the Tarot. It would not give me any answers to his business questions. The cards just kept coming back over and over again saying that nothing was as important as his health and getting to the doctor. That his heart was in trouble and he must tend to it immediately. Again I left very worried because he wouldn't take me seriously, insisted that it was his back and he was seeing the Chinese doctor about it later in the week.
As it happened, it was only three weeks before I visited Mr I again and by this time the Chinese doctor had also wisely insisted that he visit his family doctor. My client had seen his M.D. the day before and an emergency angiogram was scheduled for the next day... finally, the Tarot was willing to talk a little more about his business.... but only to tell him that he needed surgery now, but business would be fine, that his wife would do an excellent job of taking care of things for him, and that his friends in the industry would make sure to keep him going while he was healing. When he went to the hospital the next day for the angiogram, they would not release him. He had an emergency quadruple bypass that night. We nearly lost him. Again, blessings on the Tarot!
The upside of Mr I's story is that when his family called so worried and anxious, I could also say that he would be fine, that the surgery would give him back his life... and it did. He followed the doctor's orders and is a healthy, busy man again - and so is his business...
It is not often that the Tarot will unearth such a serious problem, but if it exists around a client and there is something can be done to help, ill-health will probably show up... We can easily see addictions, alcohol and drug problems and a wide variety of other interesting health-related problems. For example, I had a very nice young man come for several readings when I recognized that it was the steroids he was taking that were killing his love life....
So, if a Tarot reader notices a problem with your health, please do pay attention... at least to the extent of being very noticing of your body and checking in with your doctor! It could be the visit that saves your life!
