2006, Tones of the Times

While this may be a year of extremes in terms of the weather, this is also the year of community in many respects...  We should see a wide range of community projects move forward, especially in terms of urban renewal, implementing new strategies for dealing with gangs and guns... since this is a year also when we demand our leaders to tend to issues of law and order....

2006 is a time when hard work pays off, effort bears fruit.... and we may be more open to innovative new ideas for managing our resources and dealing with old issues.

With the focus on community also comes a renewed interest in family - could be a great year for that family vacation you have wanted to take. Travel is highlighted - the sense that more people will be on the move this year... however, several massive evacuations partially explain the sense of movement around the planet... like last year, people will be forced away from the coastlines en masse... and this time, many will never return.

Money should be easier this year for most folks around the globe... but the tendency will be for folks to spend a little less and save a little more this year. We'll be interested in tending to our homes.... a good year for the building trades!

In Numerology, 2006 is a "8" year, a year of abundance and power - a good year for business. This is the time when the visionaries will be heard... and we deepen our interest in metaphysics and spirituality.

On the negative side, in an eight year, we may find our leaders stubbornly sticking with outworn ideals. Intolerance, avarice, and impatience may be at the bottom of a number of controversies in the news. And while we should see a general improvement economically, we may also bear witness to some stunning bankruptcies and business failures. A business with the initial letter "I" or "E" and one with an "M" are likely to deliver some shocking news that could rock the stock market by October.

In an "8" year, we are also focused on family. This can be a good year for love, marriage and babies. We'll be interested in helping the disadvantaged, in community and relationship-building. This may be a social year - but events will have a purpose, even private parties will often be motivated by the desire to network and establish collegial relationships... we will broaden our horizons socially - but with reason.

This would be a risky year for any organization that has been greedy, abused its power... "8" years typically bring such situations to the surface... and with this also being a Dog year, a year of law and order, we can expect folks to be speedily taken to task for their wily ways.

You have heard talk for years it seems of "the coming shift" - the shift is no longer coming, the future is here. The shift - it is upon us... We are now into the second year of a 7-year cycle of tribulation that peaks in 2007 and ends in 2012... Our biggest concerns, therefore, this year will probably be around the weather! General Trends  

The Big Stories for 2006

In theCanadian elections, we predicted a Conservative win - a minority government once again, and once again, the NDP will have the power to make or break the government. It is unfortunate, since Harper is another Harris, has little respect for the common man, will dismantle our social services where he can and follow through wherever possible with the Americanization of Canadian policy... still the NDP will have have some real power here to protect the interests of the poor, the Liberals need to be rapped on the knuckles and we do not expect that the Conservative gov't will prove strong enough to stand longer than a year or so... My biggest concern is that Harper is too immature to deal effectively with International matters and does not have the strength to stand against Bush.

Russia in the news - the old guard continues to control the country's direction - but the young and disenfranchised are rebellious... shades of the communist revolution - in reverse...Bush's popularity waning, his administration runs into even more serious trouble... we sense real danger around him this year...

Survival becomes an issue for folks who never thought it possible for them... Great grief and disappointment...masses die, large corporations crumble.

A strong sense of God's presence - even intervention in the affairs of men this year....on the heels of disaster, we hear of awesome miracles.

The Queen in mourning this year?A female in the news, likely a fair-haired woman or Caucasian woman, a great earth mother-type may lead the way in a call to action around environmental or community issues.

A big Love Story in the news... perhaps Jennifer Aniston finds her man. If so, he's tall and probably not an actor.

The real possibility of a cure for AIDS announced this year, some significant breakthroughs in the health industry should be expected this year. Some news that specifically affects women, perhaps a cure or at least an easier treatment for certain types of female-specific cancers.

At least three major storms to affect the US this year, minimum category 3 when they hit land, but at least one of these is stronger than any storm we have witnessed to date.... one that may go on for some three days and change forever another beautiful section of our coastlines...   Mexico to be severely affected by one of these storms.  Perhaps also some discovery of ancient ruins to come to light...

Antarctica is getting smaller... melting at both poles is increasing at exponential rates. Significant new resources could be discovered... Greenland comes to the fore.

Europe is being forced to deal with their aristocratic ways... the disenfranchised continue to rebel and force changes in policies.

A sense of the ancients at work in many parts of the world... revelations from the past that can have great impact on our future.

Economically

There is a kind of equalizing force at work under the surface of our lives this year... while the very rich will lose significant properties in various environmental disasters, we will invest in urban renewal and create new opportunities for the those at the bottom end of the ladder. A greater social consciousness frees up new resources to help those in need.... and some of the needy will be those who have been at the top of the ladder... fascinating reversals ahead!

Yet we see a year of extremes... the rich get richer, the poor, poorer... the biggest difference this year being that folks are paying more attention to those at the bottom of the ladder. There is a sense of the masses in revolt this year... forcing a reasoned response.

Gas prices hold at higher levels, and then continue to rise later in the year…  same as last year. Although the Oil and Gas business is highly profitable, they are privately running scared... we'll see a tremendous push now for alternate sources of energy.The travel industry gets a boost, certainly more people seem to be in the mood to travel this year.

A new player leads the way with some innovative new travel programs... we feel an acceleration in the air traffic business.

The entertainment industry may be plagued with numerous contentious lawsuits. Adventure stories, ghost stories,  paranormal tales will probably produce the best results at the box office this year. And of course the boom in entertainment geared to the 12-20 crowd continues...

Although the automotive industry is suffering right now, and we don't see significant improvements in the next year, we feel the industry scrambling, retooling. New car sales are down because most manufacturers missed the boat not only on their designs, but on the economic conditions that would increase demand for alternate fuel sources. We predict that it will take the industry another 2-3 years to recover, but when they do, they will introduce some exciting new models that finally are forward-looking.

Despite the manipulations around the gold and silver markets, we continue to recommend these as the safest investment over the next few years.

Health:  

Certainly the Bird Flu is a serious threat, but the sense is that the oceans surrounding North America give it a measure of protection - it does not appear to become a serious issue here. The media continues to trigger our fears around a major pandemic, but this is not the year when this is likely to manifest except in isolated pockets of Asia and Eurasia.

The more significant health issues I believe this year are weather-related. Extreme weather conditions that cause major storms, that leave many dead... and sick... a killing heat in drought-ridden parts of the world, earthquakes that rupture gas, sewage and water lines, in some cases permanently....We see water in short supply - many regions without good water for extended periods.

We are also concerned about a particularly virulent strain of AIDS that is beginning to rear it's ugly head - the sense that just as a cure/vaccine and better treatments are released, the disease gets uglier and nastier, moving more rapidly than ever.

The Environment

We warned of massive storms for last year, but you ain't seen nuthin' yet...   

There are a number of indications that Fire will be a highly destructive force this year... a dry year in arid parts of the world... massive fires with the potential to wreak billions of dollars in damages...earthquakes are causal in a number of these fires... extremely difficult to control, winds play a factor in spreading some fires so quickly that no warning can be given... likely news out of China and the Middle  East of such fires, and of course in North America where many regions are already so dry they are like tinder-boxes...

In the Pacific, the area known as French Polynesia will be hit with a tsunami, eruptions at the bottom of the ocean showing in this region...

In the Atlantic, the region between Cape Verde all the way up to Spain, France and The UK appears to be getting colder... deluged with snow and rain...

Iran, Afghanistan and regions north through Kazakhstan are under heavy risk of major earthquakes, landslides. The Caspian and Aral Seas are also showing as very sick...

Around the World  - Hot Spots

Many of the following notes are a carryover from last year... Iran continues to be a source of concern... perhaps some news around their nuclear capabilities this year will cause some very real stress for the US, and in fact the entire globe... they are playing with fire... and they are immature...

Beware the peace-makers this year, especially in the Middle East... a false peace, short-lived at best. Sharon's leadership will be replaced by another Sharon - the old guard holding firm, digging in, in this part of the world.

Except for the southernmost countries - Chile and Argentina suffer serious environmental setbacks at this time, coastlines eroding, too much rain - most South American countries continue to be generally gaining strength, people feeling more secure.  The people are taking back their power, frustrated with the drug lords, and we see a stronger sense of social activism here, a resourcefulness in finding practical solutions – but the healing process is slow… a need for persistence and perseverance… commitment. There could be another terrible disaster around the Amazon this year - a warning to stop the rape of our rain forests..

Philippines is a hot spot… known now, as we have predicted for some time, as a hotbed for terrorist activity… could produce a powerful strike in Japan... the planet could decide on the need for cleansing here... the Ring of Fire could activate here later in the year..  

Russia, glorifying the past, walking away from violence… secret violence – evidence of, a revelation... Russia seems to be isolating itself again, another violent attack by the rebellious forces within … Weather is becoming a serious issue in Russia… rocks are bare that have never seen sun before, the sense of mountains not as high, trees disappearing… extremely high winds… losing chunks of the far North China – citizenry educating themselves, an economic drive, but a very secretive society, a bit stuck between capitalist and communist models, struggling with a cultural definition of itself. Water – pollution and also flooding - a serious problem – the sense of refugees from China….

Someone poisoning the air or water – the feeling of fish jumping out of the water – a red sea...

The poles are melting, Antarctica is revealing itself, water levels rising affecting especially those in the far north and far south... New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Chile and Argentina, Russia, Alaska, Canada and all of the Scandinavian countries will be experiencing dramatic weather and climate changes this year, unusual flooding on the coastlines because of the rising water levels and extreme rainfall in some areas.

The Summary

In 2006, it will be more obvious that we can be compassionate and considerate, more willing to take responsibility for our thoughts and feelings, more willing to express Love, and to take heartfelt action.   The more loving energy we put out, the more likely it is that we can enter a Golden Age. But for now, the time of the tribulation is upon us... we must be brave and strong in the face of massive environmental calamities. And we must continue to love, to put aside our judgments, our differences and to learn to embrace our enemies with understanding and unconditional love.

The best news for 2006 is a renewed sense of prosperity and our growing interest in helping the disadvantaged... The worst news is likely to be around the environment and the weather...  We will turn to our families and communities for support - and also be willing to be more supportive of our families and communities.People will be more motivated to look more deeply into the meaning of life this year - our interest in spiritual, metaphysical and paranormal knowledge and events is gaining strength... and I think we can expect some fascinating stories in the news to pique an even greater interest and curiosity in exploring higher realms of consciousness.The more loving energy we put out one by one, the more likely it is that we can enter a Golden Age. While the tribulation may be upon us, so also is the possibility for a more loving world.Let us Pray...  In Love, we prosper.
