About Changing Your Name

have been intersested in Chaldean Numerology for some time. When I first discovered it I was very excited and enthusiastic, as you are in our early 20's. The idea of changing my name to a more beneficial vibration seemed"pretty cool" and I consulted with a local numerologist, who used the Chaldean system. He encouraged me to do so and helped to guide my choice.

I have recently discovered a few sources who describe a difference in vibration value of the hard and soft 'C' sounds which makes a lot of sense to me, but leaves me with a dilemma. My new name spelling has a highly undesirable compound karmic vibration.

My birth name, which I am aware always stays with you, is Tomy Ronn Rickards 16/7,  19/1,  17/8   = 16/7 (with C as 2).   I only ever used Tomy Rickards, which is 15/6. This is quite good and very in line with my nature. Had I known about the hard 'C' thing I probably wouldn't have changed the spelling, but with C as 3,  I had a 16 and an 18 creating another 16, and so many of the books as well as the astrologer said I may benefit form changing the spelling.

I wanted my name to be similar so I used Tommas (a 23, like my birthday) and changed the end 's' of my surname to a 'z' to get Tommas Rickardz 23/5, 22 = 27/9. I liked the look of it, but if the C becomes 2, then you get 44!.

What should I do?

I am also very curious about other sounds we use in our alphabet that are not taken into account (as you say on your website the chaldean system values the letters according to the sound vibration).  Such as 'ch' - as in children, or 's'  forming the sound 'z' in many words, as in my original surname, or Jones, or in many plurals (cards, pens etc).

I look forwards to your response. I have enjoyed the information on your website. Thank you, Oliver.

I have never been a believer in changing your name... my instincts have always told me that we can't just override our original imprinting with our birth frequencies in this way... I believe that all has purpose, and there was purpose in our taking on whatever vibrations we start with - they contain our life lessons, lessons that we can't run away from... or at least that it would be best for us if we chose to stand and face...

I suggest that you return to the original spelling of your name - and perhaps use the chosen spelling as a nom de plume... you will find it useful...

I want to encourage you to continue your studies... there are some systems that account for the sounds that you describe... and understand that this experience with your name change has been an important lesson for you to absorb... there's more to this business of name change than meets the eye... a number of numerologists I know have stopped encouraging people to change their names once they heard my reasoning... there are other ways to introduce new names in our lives that fit with a more desirable frequency - for example, naming a business, choosing a place to live and so on...

Hope that helps some, Lotsa LLLove, Danielle
