  Spiders in Your Dreams

Some dreams are precognitive in nature, preparing us for some future event. Others are Divine Connections, visits with our spirit guides, guardian angels, or with friends or family who have passed over. A good number of our dreams, however, are simply "process dreams", a way for our subconscious to digest events in our lives, or to awaken us to our true desires and needs. Here are some good examples of dreams that we identified as "process dreams" and what they probably mean... Spider in Your Dreams, Snakes in Your Dreams, Dreams That Say Wake Up!'

Spiders In Your Dreams

I had a dream about going over to my grandfather's house with my mom. We proceeded to step into a room where he kept a collection of large spiders that I did not know he had.

My mom wasn't afraid, and told me I could lay down and let them crawl on me, so I did. This scared me very much and I imagined one bit me. My ears started ringing and I jumped up throwing the hairy creatures off of me and ran out the door. Then I woke up! Lindsey, Fort Worth

The Meaning of Spider

Lindsey, I get the sense this dream is about processing as opposed to a precognitive dream - time to face some of those hidden fears and allow yourself to get past them... symbolically, spider is a powerful creature, about weaving webs, making things happen... I think this dream was a gentle push from Mom to start chasing your dreams and releasing yourself from your fears... Following is an excerpt from the wonderful book Animal-Speak on the meaning of spider, hope this helps. Lotsa LLLove, Danielle

Spider: Creativity and the Weaving of Fate

Spider teaches you to maintain a balance -- between past and future, physical and spiritual, male and female. Spider teaches you that everything you now do is weaving what you will encounter in the future.

The Spider awakens creative sensibilities.  It weaves a web of intricate and subtle fabric, as if to remind us that the past always subtly influences the present and future. The spider found within the web reminds us that we are the center of our own world. Spider reminds us that we are the keepers and writers of our destiny, weaving it like a web by our thoughts, feelings and actions.

Spider is the guardian  of the ancient languages and alphabets. many believe that the alphabet was formed by the geometric patterns and angles found within the spider's web.  To many this was the first true alphabet.  This is why spider is considered the teacher of language and the magic of writing.

Those who weave magic with the written word probably have a spider totem.   (Now I understand why I always find spiders around my computer!)

The spider has long been associated with death and rebirth, (like the snake). Because it is constantly building and weaving new webs, it has also been a lunar symbol, with ties to the waxing and waning of the moon.  For those with this totem, this pattern is a reminder to maintain balance and polarity in all aspects of life.  Spider teaches that through polarity and balance creativity is stimulated.

If spider has come into your life, ask yourself some important questions:

  • Are you weaving your dreams and imaginings into reality?
  • Are you not using your creative opportunities?
  • Are you feeling closed in or stuck as if in a web?
  • Do you need to pay attention to your balance and where you are walking in life?
  • Are others out of balance around you?
  • Do you need to write?
  • Are you inspired to write or draw and not following through?

Remember that spider is the keeper of knowledge of the primordial alphabet.   Spider can teach how to use the written language with power and creativity so that your words weave a web around those who would read them.
